This blogspot is way overdue to get started. Since I am the oldest Manning cousin in Kansas, I will get it started---but you all have to keep it going.

I have so many memories of growing up with you all--your family coming to Burns to see us and Grandpa Manning and Aunt Hazel and Uncle Audress. And us coming to your house and getting to stay for several days. I don't remember if you ever stayed with us at Burns--but surely you must have at some time or another.

Rita, I remember when you were born! I don't know why I don't remember Kathy and Karen's births. Maybe at six and eight you don't pay as much attention to such things---but when you are twelve it is a big thingto get a new cousin. Probably because by then you know where they came from and how they got there!!! And, believe me, that was a big thing way back then. That was when people didn't talk about being pregnant and if I hadn't lived on a farm I wouldn't have know what I did even at twelve.

I also remember, after growing up and being married with children, how we used to come out to Aunt Geneva's every Sunday night. My folks were gone a lot then, and your mom was a livesaver for me.

Do you girls remember when the New York cousins used to come visit at Burns? Oh, Willie and I were so mean to them. We told them you got chocolate milk from brown cows---by pumping their tails. And---we made them bite into green persimmons. Have you EVER bitten into a green persimmon? They will pucker you faster than a good-looking boys kiss!!! And---it even lasts longer.

I am not going to write anymore tonight. I am at Kathy's and we have a big writing conference tomorrow. But---now you girls keep this thing going. And I will join right in there.

Love ''ya all
